COUNSELLING & THERAPY
I offer individual and group therapy and counselling in central Cambridge. The people who come to see me have experienced things like feeling out of control of their lives, feeling stuck in old and unhelpful patterns of behaviour and thinking, overwhelming anxiety and panic attacks, lack of self confidence or relationship problems. I often work with people who have experienced loss and bereavement, trauma, abuse or who find it difficult to communicate with others. I am also happy to work with people who have experience of more severe mental health problems. The basic principles I work from are my belief that the therapeutic relationship is co-created, that both people bring their skills and experience to it and that the process of change is not about becoming a different person but about 'growing into' yourself. It can be invaluable to have someone outside your ordinary social circle to talk things through with, to listen to you, and to help you gain a different perspective on the things that are troubling you. Then when you decide you want to move on you know you won't have to see me again.

I am planning a series of workshops in the autumn focussing on assertiveness, resilience and ways of coping with stress at work and in life. They will cover developing new skills to achieve resilience and respond to stressful situations. The workshop will run for 6 weeks, one evening a week for 2.5 hours.
I have been a counsellor at Centre 33, a service which offers free confidential counselling to people under the age of 26. The young people who come to this service are experiencing a wide range of problems including anger that they feel is out of control, relationship problems, stress at university or school, difficulties with friendships and relationships.
